Best Paris Packing List::11 Pieces To Pack + 3 To Leave Behind
I’ve been a French Fashion Groupie forever {I might’ve just made that phrase up, not sure}! I love the simple elegance of their iconic style that dates back to Coco Chanel.
A Paris packing list is one of the easiest to put together. PLUS, if you’re a minimalist packer, let me make your dream come true!
Add some Paris panache on any trip with a timeless + classic French style.
You can be chic at any age, and at 50+, you’ll look even more fabulous in these 11 pieces when you add them into your suitcase.
{Your dream becomes reality…This list is a go-to packing for ANY TRIP}
The best part…
It’s far easier than you think to curate a Parisian wardrobe for your trip {or to rotate through your everyday closet}. Howeva, if you came over here from my previous Paris post, that means you’re looking to travel to France and want all the good stuff.
And I’m here for you, my beautiful, 50+ fashionista Mama!
Your chic, classic, Coco look to complete your Paris packing list!
1/ Less is more
We’ve started calling them capsule wardrobes in the States, but France was the original in their “go•to uniform” looks
Pieces:: Skinny Jeans • Black Tee {or white} • Blazer • Flats {similar}
2/ Keep Jewelry to a minimum
Go for an “effortless style” look + keep it dainty. Avoid bulky, grand jewelry statements.
In your travel jewelry box, pack a dainty gold pendant • hoops • watch • bracelet
No, my Apple watch doesn’t scream French AT ALL, but it’s become my lifeline. There are fashion rules, and then there’s times to break them ;) #youbeyou
Pieces:: Ring • Bracelets {similar} • Bracelet • Locket • Necklace
3/ Simple Colors
Black
Navy
White
Beige
4/ Classic Prints
Jazz up your simple with a patterned pop!
Stripes
Polka dots
Checks
5/ Add a Go-To Accessory to the Paris Packing List
You’ve packed the basic color palette and added in a few prints, so WOW with
Your red lipstick
Your signature scarf {or scarves}
Classic bag or crossbody
6/ A Treasured Trench
Pieces:: Trench Coat {similar} • Striped Sweater • Flare Jeans • Clutch {similar}
7/ No Muss • No Fuss Hair
I don’t know how they all do it, but the French pull their hair up in a cute clip and it looks adorable. Embrace the no fuss in France, and give yourself more time for roaming the city.
8/ White Button-up Shirt
As a gal who goes through a lot of white shirts, I have a few different ones to share IN THIS POST for your packing ideas.
9/ Over•Shoulder Sweater
At 50, this is equal parts practical + stylish. Instead of stuffing your layers into an oversized backpack {tourist alert}, wear them out your hotel door.
Layer yourself like a decadent 3-tier chocolate cake with raspberry ganache::
Layer 1/ White shirt
Layer 2/ Trench coat
Layer 3/ Tie a cute striped sweater over the trench coat
On a cooler day, you have layers to keep warm
When a “flash” hits, you can shed the extra layers + pull off that Parisian look
If you dribble that raspberry ganache {it happens!}, you also have back-ups on deck ;)
10/ Oversized Sunnies
Still sporting my London impulse buy pair, but I have this camel pair in my cart for Fall.
11/ Comfortable Shoes
The best way to experience Paris life is walking through it, and possibly getting a little lost in boutiques + patisseries.
It’s more enjoyable when you’re wearing comfortable shoes.
I added three of my favorite sneakers in the Paris Travel post, but cute flats or a pair of Born Booties are good options to add to your Paris packing list too.
Now you have all the pieces you need for your trip to Paris and everywhere else you’re traveling!
“Fashion changes, but style endures.” ~Coco Chanel
The three pieces that are not Coco approved::
1/ Leggings
Switch to tights or nylons if you want something on your legs
2/ Yoga pants
Unless you’re actually AT a yoga class
3/ Sweatpants
Velour, velvet, or jersey material are all the same - baggy, frumpy, and taking up precious space in your suitcase.
Since I’m finishing with lists of three, here are three more ideas for your Paris Pack List::
3 Scarf Hairstyles For Your Go-To Accessory
As alway, my curiosity question…
Do you fill your closet with more solids or prints?
