3 summer reading books for 2022
Are you looking for a tall stack of art to decorate your coffee table?
Does your bookshelf need an updated list of literature?
Or traveling to the remote parts of Ellesmere Island in Nunavat, Canada and wishing you brought along these three books so you can stay indoors?
I wouldn’t question why you’d want to travel to the frigid mountains of Canada when you can enjoy the warm Summer day backyard reading, unless we were in-person, then I’d totally wanna know what brought you to that dastardly cold decision.
But this is a SUMMER READING post. We can save that conversation + precious packing space for Winter and long-johns, heating pad, and a space heater.
For all warm, summery, relaxing spots on the globe, Here’s a summer reading 2022 books to vacation with.
This summer 2022 reading list covers:
A not-so-perfect life {we can all relate to that}
A small-town girl making a big decision
Summer bundt cake recipe to bake
Mystery, intrigue, & a love decision you won’t see coming
Glamping popping up again {but this time, it’s over the water in England}
The 2022 summer reading list is growing with each sit-by-the-pool moment.
Instead of throwing out a long laundry list for your summer reading, I’m chunking them into bite-size reads of three to spread the fun and mystery for what’s coming next.
Even adding in the intriguing mystery in spot number three.
But if you’re just looking for a quick + scrollable list to pick a new book, this BOOK GUIDE is for you.
Happy reading!
3 coffee or nightly wine SIPPERS for 2022 summer reading::
1/ My {not so} Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella
2/ The Late Bloomers Club by Louise Miller
3/ The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave
My {not so} Perfect Life
Sophie Kinsella’s writing engulfs you in her British imagination. My {not so} Perfect Life fits into summer because it also introduces you to glamping, which is something you NEED to experience, at least once in life.
Synopsis:: I found myself saying, “Just tell her already!” a few times throughout the chapters. Communication goes a long way + how we see people on social media mayyyyyy not be real life {go figure}.
It’s a light-hearted read with a real-life look at how social media can go so wrong, and some women in business can come to your rescue.
Make this one a fun read by polishing up your London accent to go along with the new English sayings you’ll see in this book.
A Katie quote with a crappy-truth::
“I think I’ve finally worked out how to feel good about life. Every time you see someone’s bright-n-shiny, remember: They have their own crappy truths too.” ~Katie Brenner, My {not so} Perfect Life
This book also introduced me to glamping, which is a take-your-book kind of relaxing-trip. Before you dismiss it, have a scroll through my Camp Aramoni glamping experience.
Up next for your summer reading 2022…
The Late Bloomers Club
Synopsis:: A town-altering decision and a bundt cake.
Small-town life mixed with how one decision affects an entire town, plus a mouth-watering bundt cake recipe. This is the perfect book to get lost in sitting on the deck - or at the kitchen bar so you’re ready to pull ingredients for the bundt cake recipe at the end. Either way, you’re in for some sugary-summer-maple-goodness!
Have you ever been thrust into making a decision that affects an entire town? Me neither.
If you live in, visited, or grew up in a small town, you’ll see that Louise Miller really makes you feel like you’re sitting there, smack in the middle of small-town life {and all its drama}.
Late Bloomers has two good-feely quotes that will probably…most-likely…for sure pop up on my Instagram Story sometime soon.
1/ “I can’t think of a single occasion where a little sparkle didn’t improve things.”
Better words were never spoken!
2/ “…People are like century trees. You never know when they will bloom, but when they do, it’s always an extraordinary sight to behold.”
Melt my ever-lovin-Mama-heart!
Book three on your Summer Reading 2022 tour…
The Last Thing He Told Me
Synopsis:: “Protect her” — A mood of mystery and surprising twist to love. Hannah’s husband of one year has vanished, leaving her with his sixteen-year-old, Bailey…
and a note with two words…”Protect her.”
Hannah and Bailey fly to Austin to unlock pieces of this mystery in an attempt to trigger Bailey’s childhood memories and unlock the puzzle Owen {husband and Bailey’s dad} has left.
This one from Reese’s book club has mystery, an unexpected twist {of course}, and a love story of a different kind. It’s the never-ending love a mom has for her child - the child she once was, the child she can never have, and the one that pops into your life unexpectedly.
If you’re an auditory listener, you’ll be taking more summer walks with your AirPods to hear what happens next.
In the words of Joey, all three of these books are…GOOOOOD!
Not that Joey read much except the volume ‘V’ encyclopedia, but if books were food, no doubt Joey would eat these stories up. {Cheesy, but you know it’s true.}
What’s not to like?!
The one where Joey eats Rachel’s meat trifle dessert.
“What’s not to like…custard good, jam good, meat gooood.”🤣
Summer…good
Relaxing…good
Vacations…good
