This or That:: 7 Ways To Travel Easier {Part 2}

7 more ways to travel easier, packing to travel

Let’s play THIS or THAT –part 2– in Ways to Travel :: Flying Edition

Finding the best way to travel easier is the goal, right?

In part 2 of THIS or THAT, I have 7 more ideas to see if you want to reinvent your travel with new

OR

keep the status quo - because it can’t get any better. 😊

I’m always looking for better {and more compact} ways to fly, since we travel with carry-on suitcases only.

You already do some of these when you fly. Like #9 for sure…or maybe you’re a dress person?

If you missed Part 1 - HERE IT IS.

Alrighty, on to 7 More ways to travel Easier {+Lighter}

8/This or That:: Travel Pillows vs Your Jacket/Sweatshirt

Do you pack a travel pillow along in the air or use your sweater/jacket as a pillow?

It’s getting easier to ditch the pillow with newer airplanes having adjustable head rests now. No Pillow Needed

How many neck pillows have you purchased over the years?

  • Caboodle

  • Classic Bean U-Shaper

  • The Neck wrap

Making your own airplane pillow could give you some serious extra space.

Make this kind of neck pillow

9/ This or That:: Jeans VS Leggings

{or door 3:: Skirt Style}

Travelers are dressing more casual today. Walking through the airport, it’s mostly jeans, yoga pants, and leggings {true, pajama pants are in there too}.

You can still get plenty comfy in tons of different outfits. I buy and test all kinds to find stylish + comfortable clothes that keep me comfy, warm, and cool in the airport + plane.

What’s your favorite travel style?

I add my top 3 travel outfits each month on my Travel Style Page if you’re ever looking for new inspiration.

Kinda like style flashcards that you can pull from your closet, style, and head to the airport.

10/ This or That:: Packing Cubes VS Roll-n-Pack only

I like packing cubes, B does not.

He travels far more days a year than I do of course, but we pack very differently. Boy vs girl, pilot vs non-pilot, but both stubborn in our packing ways…🤷🏻‍♀️

Obviously, he packs his suitcase the old-fashioned way, and I like trying new things just in case there’s a better way to do it.

So I tried packing cubes a few years back, and YEP! There’s a better + easier way to pack, in my opinion😉

I have two different sets and pack them different ways….

Some trips I pack by outfit {folding & rolling}::👇🏼

And for longer trips, I use compression packing cubes to squeeze more into my carry-on suitcase and pack by category {bottoms, tops, extra pieces}:: 👇🏼

11/ This or That:: RIFD VS Take Your Chances

Where do you fall on the RIFD scale when you travel?

In THIS POST, I go into the details of the RIFD fear-factor. Plus tips on travel safety to avoid being a target.

I fall dead-center on this teeter-totter choice {🤔do parks even have teeter-totters anymore?}.

We’ve had our credit card number stolen before –while in the airport– so my protectiveness is real.

These safety habits will keep your valuable pieces of ID safe when you travel::

I’ve purchased a few RIFD protected cases that I carry my credit cards and license in, but you can also ask your bank for extra blue sleeves to carry your cards in FOR FREE.

Not sure it needs to be written, but ya know I will anyway…

Keep all your valuables close to you::

  • Have your wallet inside a zipper pocket

  • When touring, skip the backpack {or wear it as a front-pack}

  • Choose a crossbody or belt bag over a large purse

  • Fly under the radar {don’t wear your expensive jewelry, roll out large bills…}

12/ This or That:: Game app VS Deck of cards

Apps on our phone are easier to “pack” on the plane for sure, but a deck of cards is nice to have with a group of people.

And once at your destination, especially if you’ve rented a vacation rental instead of a hotel room, cards are a fun game to play TOGETHER😊

13/ This or That:: Audiobook VS Paperback/Kindle

Or have both at the same time.🤦🏻‍♀️

I’m guilty of having a paperback on my nightstand AND an audiobook loaded and ready on my phone for the airplane.

Have you clicked into my travel book list for new reads before?

Free/Inexpensive Book Options::

14/ This or That:: Antibacterial wipes/spray vs Building up the immune system

I’m guilty of having wipes in my seat-back pouch for my tray table. Airlines do a quick clean-up after each flight, but there isn’t time to come in and wipe everything down.

I’ve seen some gnarly tray tables on my travels🤢

I’m building my immunity and getting germs from so many other places on my trips, this is one I can’t stomach.

Or maybe it’s all the cruise ship trips that still ring in my ears… Walking into the dining hall where the hostess has the antibacterial bottle saying, “washy-washy”, as she sprays your hands.

A little of THIS and a sprinkle of THAT to help you travel easier every time you pull out your suitcase!
