How To Create a Vision Board That Works! {in 5 Steps}

Create a vision board and doodle with purpose today

Instead of sitting down to write New Years Resolutions, or jot down a list that’s lost in a kitchen junk of despair drawer, why not have some creative, relaxing, doodle time with a cup of coffee or glass of wine.

5 easy steps to create your vision

Create a 2024 vision board that gets you where you want to go this year. And if it’s Sicily in September, I’ll see you there!

1/ What do you want in 2024? {Define Your Vision}

Start BROAD in this first question. This can be simple to full blown renovate your home. Your vision answers to no one.

  • Travel more in 2024

  • Eat healthier {Did you eat too much Christmas Crack too? 😉}

  • Spend more time with family and friends

  • Renovate or remodel the kitchen

Make a list of ONE SPECIFIC piece you hone in on or a list of three, four, or 24 things you want to accomplish in 2024.

If you choose more than one for your vision board, it’s best to TIME-CHUNK so you’re not spread thin and want to give up on day three. More on this in the last step {stay with me}.

2/ Get Specific Before Creating Your Vision Board {What Inspires Action?}

Step two is where you’re going to niche down.

When we write and look for photos that are niched down to a specific topic, it’s MORE LIKELY to stick when we throw it out into the world. Good ol’ accountability works like a charm.

NOTE:: If “more travel in 2024” is your big picture then envision who, where to, how, and what kind of travel you want…

Italy makes the travel board {general travel}
Go to Tuscany, Rome and Raffadali, Sicily with Billy, Bobby, Sally, Susan {specific}
Taste our way South through Italy and find where our family heritage began

{It’s travel alchemy at its finest – Experiencing what matters to you! Do you like bustling tourist hubs, or outlying landscapes and villages, or shopping + outdoor markets, lounging beach vacation, historic sight-seeing…}

Create it on paper {or digitally} to keep your vision top-of-mind

3/ Gather Personal Touches {Spark Motivation}

Create your vision board as an inspiration of your personal style.

Make a digital vision board or set aside a craft hour bringing out Elmer and his glue, scissors, colored pencils, magazine photos, your photos….

Unmotivated from the beginning makes it an uphill crawl to reach your vision.

4/Create Your Visual Map

Before ‘gluing’ everything down, make a map starting from day 1 {where you are now}, and moving through the map {steps} to reach your happy place.

Note:: Travel Vision

  1. Photo of home {Where you are now}

  2. Add photos of Who you’ll travel with

  3. Images of your destination(s) {Where to}

  4. Your hotel or Airbnb + how you’re getting there✈️

  5. What sights you want to visit

  6. How you’re paying for this

5/ If you have multiple Visions for your year, Time Chunk to stay on Track

Just like the name says, you’re chunking out a set time for each goal. If I wanted to create my vision board with the three goals of::

  • Drink 48 oz of water everyday

  • Spend 1 day/week with family and friends

  • Exercise 3 days per week

Focus on the most important or easiest first. In the month of January I’m getting my water routine watered down. I fill up 4 water bottles each night on the kitchen counter to make sure I see them first thing in the morning.

In February, once I have my water routine set, I’ll invite parents/grandparents/cousins/friends, to brunch on Sunday mornings.

When you have a passel of hungry brunchers on your calendar for each Sunday at 11am, that’s plenty of motivation not to back out.

Ever meet an Italian who turned down an invite to a family-style meal? If you have, make them do ancestry.com test.🤔

By March I’m hydrated, brunched up and ready to chunk in time for Zumba, yoga, or walking 3x/week.

Set the chunk of time that fits your schedule

Maybe you focus full-on for two months before moving onto the next vision on your board, maybe 2 weeks, you do you.

Lastly, keep your vision board VISIBLE!

Place it where you SEE IT EVERYDAY as a happy reminder.

This isn’t about perfect!

This is about keeping a dream, goal, something you REALLY - REALLY - REALLY want to do and needing a bigger nudge than writing a line on your TA-DA list on January 1, 2024.

Cheers to your 2024 Beautiful Soul!
